I collected 16 monarch caterpillars all in various stages of growth--at least five different age groups--this past week from my butterfly garden (we have lots of milkweed plants). I have not seen any of the migrating monarchs, but the evidence of their presence is clear! Last night, the first chrysallis formed. The second is in progress. Based on these observations, we should be able to tell when they migrated thru northern Virgina.
