Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/09/2005

Number: 1

I cannot believe how many caterpillars i have seen in my yard and school this year - between school and my home we tagged 18 last year - the year before , we raised and tagged 179 - for the past month i have seen a monarch in my yard laying eggs and also at school - right now i have raised and released 45 monarchs - there are 35 more chrysalids in my living room and about 20 more caterpillars. - At my school (which is now an official Waystation from MOnarchwatch program ) our milkweed was thriving and we have found over 100 caterpillars - 25 made chrysalids on overhang of school building , we can't keep up!! hurricanes last year made the milkweed mature too quickly then die by the time the monarchs come through - this year has been overwhelming and hard to keep up - we are bringing in as many as we can -
