Monarch PEAK Migration

Wow, how exciting the past few days have been! All of my 225 tags have been used quite easily this year. We tagged our final 57 monarchs by PM today, and boy if we had another 200 we could have tagged even more. We had a steady flow for the past 3 days, but today topped them all. When I went back out just to check during the day... I counted hundreds nectaring on the goldenrod, thistle and asters. The goldenrod is in full bloom and very little has started to turn brown. The monarchs were unhurried, as if they knew I was out of tags and didn't have my net.

Is it because we had such a hot dry summer that has brought the masses out? We are expecting temps in the 80's and 90's through the middle of the week. I am curious to see if they keep coming as they did today.

The hardest part for me is not having enough tags to continue to tag all that I have seen!! Talk about an addiction!
Well, I just wanted to let you all know in the South-West that there are many coming your way, and I didn't tag them all!
Good Luck and enjoy the best 2 weeks of the year!
