We have had several monarch roosts in our shelterbelt since Aug 23. When the weather is warm and the wind is from the south they will stay for several days and move on when the weather and wind changes directions. They are roosting day and night. We have had 4 seperate groups of monarch roosts with the last group leaving on Sept 12th when we had a big storm. Lots of very strong wind from the south in the morning(over 40mph) and them another storm in the evening. The breeze is now from the north and the monarchs are gone. I will be watching this weekend as the weather warms up again to see if more arrive. There were a few less monarchs in the last group that came through, and yet each of the groups had approximately 400-500 monarchs.
