Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/09/2005

Number: 1

On the beach in Cobourg on Friday Sept. 9th on a warm and sunny afternoon I counted a hundred butterflies. The beach is half a mile long and I estimate conservatively that there were 150 to 200 butterflies on it. They were close to the shore facing the edge of the water. Since then I have seen a few butterflies 4 or 5 per day but not in the same large numbers as Sept 9th (Friday). The weather continues to remain warm in the mid 70's (22-24C)and sunny.
