Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/14/2005

Number: 1

Sunday 09/11/05 tagged approx. 75 monarchs in clover field here in Ottumwa. There had to be hundreds nectaring, but I ran out of tags. Today, Sept 14, I saw at least 12 monarchs flying across the road in front of my car, and flying through our yard in Ottumwa. All flying fairly low, and heading in the southwest direction. Today was our first cooler day, with a high near 78, and winds around 5-10mph. Today was the first day I noticed so many Monarchs on the move.
