Tagging Monarchs here in Toronto this year has been a pleasure. My wife and I tagged well over 400 last weekend. There are still thousands nectaring here. Over the weekend while we were tagging at a park (East Point) on the shore of Lake Ontario, two adults which had been tagged a day earlier were netted again, and this evening we noted clusters in the trees as dusk arrived.
Last year at this time we had tagged and released a total of 40, most of which were reared. This year we are over 500, the majority of which have been netted as adults. The numbers here are reminiscent of 2003.
