There was no monarch movement in our part of eastern KS yesterday due to rain, clouds, and low temperatures. There are modest numbers of newly emerged monarchs in the area. None have shown any directional flight so far but I expect most will join the migrants that should arrive in Lawrence later today. We're counting on their arrival since our tagging event at the Baker Wetlands is scheduled for tomorrow from 7:30 to 11:30 (http://www.monarchwatch.org/wetlands/). For the rest of the day we will be watching the skies for flashes of orange and the ground for the shadows cast by the passing monarchs. The weather looks good for the tagging for the first time in 4 years!
