Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/18/2005

Number: 1

September 18, 2005

We expect several hunderd if not a thousand or more monarchs to arrive this year. To date, number of monarchs is much lower than in past years. Cannot suggest a reason for this. If more come later, I'll let you know.

We noticed Monarchs in the air yesterday evening. There was a cool north breeze and sunny skies.

Monarchs have roosted in our yard which is 7 miles north of Enid, for many years in the pecan, hedge, mulberry, and cottonwood trees that are thick on our property, spread over six acres but concentrated just south of our house. I have reported roosts many times.
