Our class has seen 85 Monarchs during the past week, many fewer than last week (195). The weather has been in the 90's, and most flowers are still blooming-- providing lots of nectar. We have noticed, however, that the eggs we have found in the past 2 weeks aren't hatching into caterpillars so perhaps they "know" that Fall is near and that there isn't time for a full metamorphosis before it gets too cold.
