Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/18/2005

Number: 1

On Sunday 9-18-05, we had over 1,000 monarch in the trees in our yard. The day before, we thought 100 was a large amount of butterflies but by Sunday it looked like an invasion. Every branch on the two trees on the north side of our house was covered with the beautiful butterflies. During the day they would go out into the clover field of our house then return before sunset to roost in the trees. By Thursday, 9-22-05 we were down to just a dozen. It was a wonderful experience while they were here.
