Monarch (OTHER Observations)

My students and myself are sighting monarchs every day now! Unfortunately, we have been unable to net any! However, 10 monarchs that were some of the "culprits" in eating all of my milkweed in my butterfly garden at home and were taken to my classroom for observation and protection all "went in their chrysalises" as my students would say. Then this week (Tuesday the 20th), 8 of the 10 came out! What excitement and a thrilling feeling to actually see them! Later that week on Wednesday, my students talked about the Journey North program and the tagging of monarchs. We tagged all 8 of them and released them Wednesday. By Friday, the other two monarchs had also joined our classroom! I can only imagine what it must be like to see millions of them in Mexico after just seeing 8 of them flutter into the sky!
