Between 10:30 am - 2:30 pm over 100 monarchs were counted over Brigham Hill in Essex, Vermont.
“It was pretty wild. Every time I would scan the horizon or sky for hawks, I would see Monarchs. They were everywhere. At first it was kind of frustrating, because I'd think I'd have a hawk only to realize it was a butterfly. Once I realized how many there were, however, I was able to appreciate what we were seeing,” said
Friday's variable North winds brought decent numbers and an outstanding variety of hawks. Silas Miller and I counted over 70 hawks representing 13 species. A few of the Osprey we had were seen kettling with BROADWINGs.
