Our second and third grade classroom released the last of our five Monach butterflies today. We watched them eat and grow, change into their crysalis and hatch. I have been doing this for over twenty years with students. I observed the most caterpillars on Isleboro this year, than I have seen in many years. Last year we found very few. My daughter has seen several monachs in Newport,RI while sailing. One even landed on the boat for a few minutes.
