Our school is into its second year with a butterfly garden. We have 50 (4th and 5th grade) students working after school to build a rest stop for Monarchs and other butterflies. This year we have added a veggie garden, and planted tomatoes, pumpkins, and some herbs amongst other things. Here are quotes from some of our student gardeners....
Santiago reports that Foster Elementary has a butterfly garden that 4th and 5th graders built last year. "It was fun and cool, but lots of hard work, we get to see plants grow."
Chelsea says, "It was fun cause now we get to see all the butterflies around it, and see all the plants get stronger. It feels great because you know you planted it."
Anna thinks, "I think it is a really cool thing to watch all the butterflies grow in your garden."
Everett, one of our hardest workers, said "I do love plants! At the old house I helped my dad put plants around the trees."
