I asked my students to write their thoughts and here are a few:

It was fun and it was the right spot to put the tulips in.

I think the dirt was good soil.

There were no rocks in the soil where we put our tulips.

The soil was not very rich.

The soil was to dry.
It was a good place but a little rocky.

The temperature of the soil was colder than I thought it would be.

It was a sunny day to plant.
