Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/29/2005

Number: 1

My grandsons were playing outside and called, excitedly, for me to come out and see ALL the Monarch butterflies. I assumed that they were exaggerating but I went out anyway. Was I surprised!! In two of my trees there were a huge amount of Monarch butterflies sitting on the different limbs. On one bare limb were at least 20 and they were opening and closing their wings in unison. It was breathtaking. I got my camera and took some pictures but it was dusky out and I'm not sure if they will showup or not. The other limbs were full too and the Monarchs were flying all over. I am 50 years old and have never seen anything like it. Later that night, in fact 1am, I made my husband come out and showed them to him with a flashlight. He was also amazed. Very awesome!
