Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/30/2005

Number: 1

While walking in Cape May Point at 6:40 pm we happened to notice at least several dozen monarchs flying overhead. Upon further inspection we realized that they were picking their bed and breakfast location. There were hundreds of them (perhaps even thousands--not too good with estimating #) in three trees; 2 were deciduous trees--unsure what kind, and one was a pine. The second evening we went back again around the same time and there were monarchs going to roost in the same location.
