Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/02/2005

Number: 1

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2005, my husband called me to come out to the back yard. I saw the most beautiful sight, a plethora of Monarchs! Probably 150 to 200 of the beautiful butterflys flying in and out of our trees. Above us they seemed to be just floating above our heads. We saw small ones, just smaller than a quarter flying in an out of our honeysuckle that grows through our wrought iron fence. I took a few good pictures until my cat followed me, and then the Monarchs seemed to be bothered by all the movement, even though I tried not to scare them. Early evening, I saw many, about 50, flying into and around the privet and honeysuckle.
