Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/02/2005

Number: 1

I accidentally stumbled into the resting place of 1000's of monarchs
10/2 8:30 a.m. in Lee Pfluger Park, Eden (Concho County) Texas. I
estimate that there were in excess of 20,000 butterflies
and perhaps
more on the live oaks, the ground, the brushy area at the park's
southern boundary (approx. 100 meters.) I did not attempt a count and
this is a very rough estimate. On 10/3 I found another monarch resting
place on the park ground hosting probably 1000 butterflies.
