I am a graduate student studying education at Antioch New England Graduate School. My classmate (Lauren Beigel) and I decided to
participate in this project as part of a Place-Based Education course. We planted the tulips in three different locations on the Antioch campus. The areas are surrounded by walkways, two of the areas are fenced in. We decided not to cover the beds with chicken wire because we were told that squirrels have not been a problem in the area. We added some bulb fertilizer to the soil
holes when we planted the bulbs.
We planted our tulips on October 7th and over the weekend we had torrential rain causing floods in the town of Keene. I have not seen the campus since, but heard that our campus is dry and was not affected.
