I went out around 7:30 and netted another 5, so I tagged 15 this morning.
Just got back from sitting in the yard for 49 minutes with a stopwatch.
In 48.5 minutes, I counted 72 monarchs.
The most I saw in a single 5 minute segment was 12.
It's light winds to 5 mph from ESE up to 7-10mph and coming out of the
east by the end of observations, 75.4dF, relative humidity 49%, cloudless.
Monarchs still moving to the SW between 12-35' in the air.
October 10
After a steady but light stream of 72 butterflies in just under 50 monitored minutes yesterday and continuing most of the day, I'd expected a better showing in the trees last night, but we had a major rain storm at midnight and got 1.8".
This morning there were only 6 monarchs in 6 trees. 3 were clustered up under some large dead branches, the rest scattered singles.
