How close do the Monarchs have to be for it to be considered a group? I live in Haltom City, Texas 76137 and have seen close to 100 Monarch butterflies heading south during this past weekend (Oct. 8-9). No more than a few minutes would go by with out my wife and I seeing quite a few. They are not grouped the same way a flock of birds do when flying in groups, and I am not sure if Monarchs fly in groups that way or not.
I don't know if this information helps, but it is a beautiful site to see the abundance of Monarchs pass through.
