Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/04/2005

Number: 200

Even though the big roosts have moved on south, we are still seeing a steady stream of migrants over the county. I learned of 2 other locations that had large roosts, 1 site just south of I-20 within the Midland city limits and the CAF [Confederate Air Force] garden near the airport reported hundreds for several days before the cold front last Wednesday night.

Editor’s Note: We are estimating a minimum of 200 monarchs based on observer’s estimate of “hundreds.”
