Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/09/2005

Number: 1

I live in Collin County Texas and have just seen 17 Monarch butterflies overhead during the last hour. It is breezy here and they seem to be floating on the wind. I guess I might have noticed them before, but they are flying high above the treetops and only now and then do they drop down and get close enough to really be sure of their identity. They seem to fly over singly and not in groups about every three to five minutes apart. While I realize my sighting is not in the thousands, it is a double digit sighting and the most Monarchs I have seen here in years.
