Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/11/2005

Number: 1

We are still seeing extraordinary numbers in Sonora. I counted 100 in flight today (Tuesday 11th) just while driving a couple miles through town. Yesterday I counted about 30 flying over in just a couple minutes, and my view was limited by trees and buildings. On Friday evening, I got a call that hundreds were in the trees in a yard in town and Saturday morning there were hundreds if not low thousands in the trees at the cemetery. At any given moment, you can look up and see monarchs. Another person reported bushes covered in monarchs as well as hundreds behind the Presbyterian Church. Spectacular!
