I found approximately 87 Monarch Caterpillars this fall beginning as early as the 2nd week in August...which was very early for this area...at school the caterpillars were in a dry aquarium, several bug totes, enclosed butterfly nets and a few jars...we kept the containers in our Library and in several 2nd grade classrooms that were doing Monarach units...our school totals were 105 released Monarch Butterflies...a boom year! Many students were able to see the Caterpillars change into their chrysalis as well as emerge from the chrysalis...
