Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/13/2005

Number: 1

Between 4:20 and 4:30 PM, my husband counted 97 and I counted 110 monarchs. We used binoculars (9 and 10 power) to observe the high flying monarchs. I can't believe they get so high. They are so cute with with outstretched wings gliding head first with the wind than being spun around sidways with the winds then backwards, forwards once more. They are amazing. They seem so fragile, yet are tough enough to be blown forwards, backwards, and sideways with the wind as they head inexorably to Mexico.
