Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/15/2005

Number: 1

Hi, we have had an exciting morning in Lewisville...less than 1/10 of a mile west of I-35E on the 1300 block of Lark Lane (zip - 75077) in a residential neighborhood... For the last 30 minutes or so ;-) Starting at 9:00am, we noticed 4 - 10 monarchs roosting on the hyacinth bean flowers. Over the course of the next half hour, we counted close to 65 monarchs strolling through our raised bed veggie garden and in-ground 'butterfly-friendly' flower bed (aka. phil's butterfly diner). The weather is in the low eighties to high seventies with a very slight wind from the north. ciao for now :-) team monarch - lewisville laura, phil, v-dawg, and cowboy larry (our fearless kitty) ps. we will post some pics later of the monarchs roosting.
