Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/17/2005

Number: 1

In earlier migrations we have found hundreds of monarchs in single trees. This year there seem to be smaller roosts under the canopies of almost every large live oak or live oak grove. It's hard to get a good count, but we normally see several dozen per roost. They are still there late in the morning and don't seem to be in any hurry to move on.
