I was in Gonzales yesterday to film Blue-faced Ringtails. On the way there, travelling I-10 from Kerrville to Luling i had 44 Monarchs -- those of course are only the eye-level bugs -- or about one every three miles or so. At Gonzales, in two hours of work i casually noted 12 more without scanning the skies.



Today, back at home in Kerr County, i noted that there apparently a group had set down in the cypress trees aong the river in front of my house. No huge, trees-dripping, kind of thing. But i walked about 200 yards of trees and counted 102 Monarchs dropping from the branches and leaving (at about 12:30 p.m.). Will be out the rest of the day filming and will report back.

While filming in Kerr County today counted an additional 82 Monarchs -- no estimates possible with my schedule today, and no scanning, those are just the number i came across. No other special butterflies today, numbers and variety are low right now, but i did check a couple of the ri
