For any who want to know, there were plenty of Monarchs around Sabine Pass (Jefferson Co.) today post USAF Mosquito spraying. I counted 233 at Sabine Woods in a little over two hours, an additional 53 at "The Willows" at Sea Rim State Park, but only 7 on the road to the Pilot Station (perhaps because the vegetation is so flattened there?). I realize many of these bugs could have come in post spraying but it's still a good sign. There were a reasonable (but not large) number of other butterflies around, nothing unusual.
