Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/13/2005

Number: 300

I saw several hundred monarchs gathering in my backyard pecan trees
around dusk this evening. It was fascinating how they grouped together
in hanging bunches.
I am inside the Kerrville city limits.
I have more than a dozen
pecans & some are over 65 years old. There's also lots of lantana
around the yard.

In Oct. 2001, we had several thousand here for 7 to 10 days. That's the
only other time we've seen them & we moved here in 1940.
