Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/22/2005

Number: 1

71.5dF

10:15 a. m.

broken overcast, breeze from the east to ESE 5-10 mph

continuous streams of monarchs just above tree height or lower (15-20' agl)
They are dropping into every wind shadow, then popping back up into the
breeze to continue SSW.

I did 5 five minute counts with no intervals:

1 10 monarchs

2 10 monarchs

3 7 "

4 12 "

5 11 "

This would give us 600 monarchs passing over just one plot 50' x 50' in an
hour's time. Not what I could call a stream or river, but a definite movement or flow.
