Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 11/11/2005

Number: 1

Eight Life Lab-raised Monarchs were released this week on the Lourdes College Campus shortly after feeding. All headed South(the majority Southwest) on days marked by full sunlight, temperatures in the upper 50's or low 60's with light and variable winds. There were five males and three females. Six of the eight were much larger than average. The last male took flight today, Friday, and should be over 200 miles South-Southwest by "roosting" time tomorrow. The weekend weather is predicted to be supportive. Fourth-Grade students in Mrs. Rusch's Class from Our Lady of Lourdes School clapped and bid goodbye as this final Monarch of the season took flight in a sun-warmed Autumn sky.
