We noticed two days ago a pair of bald eagles in a rather large nest in the "lagoon" area behind our house. We were excited to see them. Last summer it appeared that a couple of hawks were occupying that nest.
We didn't see them yesterday, but this morning I watched them for a while. Just before leaving for work I was watching as one was sitting in the nest and the other one was in flight. With my binoculars I saw that the eagle was carrying a large stick to the nest. The commical thing was that as he flew to the nest he was too close to the other tree branches and the stick was jerked out of his talons and he arrived at the nest "empty-taloned."
