Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/01/2006

Number: 1

I was on the South Carolina coast over the New Year holiday. On Jan. 1st I saw a fresh-looking Monarch nectaring on dandelion flowers at Patriot's Point in Mt. Pleasant.

Throughout the days of Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 I saw at least 6 widely separated Cloudless Sulphurs in the ACE Basin, Charleston, and Ion Swamp areas. Flowers were scarce, as one would expect this time of year, and none of the sulphurs were nectaring.
