Bald Eagle

Date: 01/21/2006

Number: 1

I was traveling in the southern edge of the Adirondack Park when I observed a mature Bald Eagle perched in a tree on the edge of a brushy field. I have been coming to this area of the Adirondacks for almost 40 years and have never before seen an eagle in the area. I stopped and got out and took several photos of the bird before it took off. There were several other birds behind this one that I had not seen. When the first took off, I spotted another mature eagle in the air also. They circled along with about 5-6 smaller birds. I contiued to take pictures until they flew off. I got several good pictures of the bird and it was defintely a mature bald eagle. Could the other birds that were with these eagles been offspring of a mating pair? They were very majestic birds and it was a thrill to see them in the wild.
