I have seen large groups of robins (10 or more) on several occasions in January. They appear to be hopping and feeding on the ground while others are in trees above them. One group was in a cluster of evergreens (I think juniper).
A group of at least 8 were drinking at my patio birdbath last week. I did not observe any bathing. So far the only early morning song is that of the Carolina wren.
