We have had an unusually warm January in 2006 in Detroit. The ground has been frozen on only a few days, and we have had no snow cover since a three-week cold period in December. Robins have been singing and acting like they are staking out territory - no fighting yet - this week. I heard 3 singing the "cheerio, cheerio" song on January 29, 2006. We may get enough snow to cover the ground for the Super Bowl on Feb. 5th.
