Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/31/2006

Number: 1

When I opened my back door this morning, to my great surprise, I heard the clear sounds of a Robin! I never did see him, but I heard it long enough to be certain it was indeed a Robin. This is several days earlier than I observed the first one last year.

It's hard to say if it was actually on territory singing. I think there was some of that song, but other sounds as well. It really struck me that I was hearing more than the chirping kind of sounds I usually hear with the first sightings.

Lol, strangely enough, as I am sitting here typing this I thought I heard the sound of robins through the noise of the heater, tv upstairs, etc. I just stuck my head out the back door (and it's cooollld out there!) .... surprise... I did hear the usual "early chirping" of several robins... then a few flew into one of my trees! :) These are not singing the same as the one I saw last week, just the typical chirping I would expect. It looked like there were about 5-6 of them in the immediate area.
Something I've noticed this year... many of the birds seem to be more vocal than usual. I've heard finches singing, which I don't remember this early.
