Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 01/25/2006

Number: 1

the American Robin seen on January 25th was by itself flying over the road in Toronto, Ontario, as I was driving to work. Weather was around 0C (32F) and overcast that day. As most of the NorthEast has found this winter, we have had unseasonably warm weather! Toronto usually has many overwintering American Robins in various valleys/backyards, I know that on many Christmas Bird Counts in Toronto, there are over 1,000 Robins counted in the city. With this unseasonably warm weather I bet that there are many more than usual Robins here this winter.

I would say that the flock of 25+ Robins in Richmond Hill were overwintering, I would not classify them as a WAVE of robins, just an overwintering flock, because the place I saw them was in a field beside a well-wooded area that has many wild growing berries and often houses many overwintering Robins.
