Normally I would be shocked at hummingbird sightings this time of year but some sightings over the last few seasons have proved me
otherwise. On the Reed College campus in SE Portland, the rufous
hummingbirds stay around all winter long and never leave! I've also seen
a hummingbird a few times over the last few months feeding out of
woodpecker holes on a cedar tree in SW Portland. Apparently, they aren't
necessarily as migratory as they're made out to be!
