Monday, February 6th
6 robins sighted by the Fraser River in downtown Prince George.
Tuesday, February 7th
heard robins calling and 4 sighted in same area.
Friday, February 10th
12 sighted within same area in a mountain ash tree
Reports of "flocks" have been fairly common during this month.
Whether these are wintering robins (although I don't recall any numbers of robins on the Christmas Audubon count) or migrating robins, I don't know. Our check list for this area states that they would be extremely lucky to find at this time of year. Our winter continues to be mild. Last January's average temperature was -12 degrees Celsius. This January is was -2 degrees Celsius.
