Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 02/12/2006

Number: 1

Redford is just west of Detroit, and I live in a heavy tree area near a golf course. I have water out all winter (2 heated water birdbaths) and provide many varities of seeds, nuts, fruit, mealworms and bread items to my avian friends. A large majority of our Robins went south, but they have been in the area all winter. I see a one to a few at a time, and make sure I add extra fruit (fresh apples, grapes, oranges and raisins) when I see them around the yard or in the trees.

There were more Robins in terms of flock size (twenty to thirty)
before Christmas week, and I have seen flocks that size within the tri-county area many times since fall. They are not singing at this time, but I believe I heard the start of a long last week, but could not confirm it due to a noisy work crew in my yard. The possible "song" would have been 2/2/06. Keeping my eyes open daily for the Robins.
