Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/16/2006

Number: 1

It was an usually warm day yesterday. It was near 70 degrees here in KY. We were outside getting some exercise, when we heard a redwing blackbird singing. We don't know if he will be singing today, because it has really gotten cold. It is going to snow tomorrow.
We have seen other signs of spring: we have seen sandhill cranes migrating north, bats have been seen flying, and moths are starting to come out on warm days (lucky for the bats!). We have also seen woodcocks displaying, owls and turkeys calling.
