Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)

Date: 02/11/2006

Number: 1

This is a male rufous-backed, Rufous hummingbird. Due to his location of perching choice and how he responds to me, I think this might be the male hummer that molted his gorget here in 2005! He looks very healthy and has been dining on gnats, nectar from Aloe arborensis, Bottlebrush flowers (Callistemon Citrinus) and Eucalyptus globulus, which blooms here all winter.
