Tulips EMERGED

Date: 01/23/2006

Number: 1

When we noticed the emerging tulips we were very concerned and surprised! The students investigated their own yards and neigborhoods and noticed that there were other bulbs emerging, too. After checking our January temperatures we came to the conclusion that the unusually warm tempertures had caused the tulips to emerge. The students decided to cover the tulip garden with cloth each evening until we could replace it with straw. During the past three weeks we have meade these observations: 1. had more tulips emerge, 2. noticed that one tulip may have been nibbled at the top by a squirrel, and 3. other leaves are brown at the top. 2/21/06
