Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 02/24/2006

Number: 1

I have been raising monarchs' all year including just releasing 7 butterflies here in Fort Myers, Florida. There are not a lot of butterflies around here (compared to what it used to be) since the hurricanes and with all the mesquito sprying afterwards. However I see at least one monarch a day flitting through my yard and some laying eggs as they go. I released seven females yesteray and today my lone male flew around. Am I creating my own sanctuary, do you think? I cannot raise all the eggs because there are too many for my small crop of asclepias, but don't like to see the lizards eat them all. Anyway they have been around here year round now this last year.
