My first swallow of the "spring" was not a Tree or
Violent-green, instead another BARN SWALLOW! A single
bird was at the old Weyco pond site on the north spit
of Coos Bay feasting on the clouds of mosquitoes just
before sunset. It use to be that late March was when
they'd arrive in spring in Coos. Since the mid-winter
incursion thing started in 2000, its hard to say if
these late February/early March birds are mid-winter
incursion leftovers or spring arrivals?!
